"Aruba, Jamaica oooh I wanna take ya to Bermuda, Bahama come on pretty mama. To Key Largo, Montego…"

I have a tan line from my hair. That is some serious sun exposure.

This weekend was incredible. Friday, Saturday and Sunday I pretty much spent every waking hour in the sun. I was in amazing company and lost track of how I was…situated. So now my face is tanned a bit…lopsided. Monday I tried to stay out of the sun a little bit to see if it would mellow. And it didn't. BUT IT WILL. I'm trying to be positive. And even if it doesn't, I will have rather interesting documentation of tanning gone awry in all of the pictures at my sisters wedding. No big.

Four more days muchachos. I become more excited with each day. And I've made lists! My husband (and my Mom) would be so proud. Chances are likely that I will have my poop in a group (or as BJ would say 'terd in a herd') by Friday and I will be able to spend four weeks away from home without a hitch. And by hitch, I mean, "Where's my…oh man!"

It's all about keeping the weddings separate, at least in my mind (and my suitcase). Or else I'll end up wearing shoes that don't match and four bracelets. Which would be excessive. Moozh looks killer. Hot bod + tan + crisp suit = the best ever. We're going to do our best Posh and Becks with a healthy dose of Tim Burton and Helena Bon Bon. A little quirk never hurt anyone. Especially emcees. A game where the bride and groom have to take off their shoes and a numerous jokes at people's expense. We got it in the bag. Trust.

This is one from a bunch of photos I took today along the boardwalk. Pictures just look so much better with sun. And my tattoo looks like the Adidas symbol. Strange.

Happy Tuesday! I hope it is sunny where you are. We will all meditate in flip flops to generate warm weather. Unless you're in Philly. Then you're not allowed to think of anything hotter than Donald Trump. Gross.

"We're running out of money, but we've still got the month of May."

Yay for May Long!  It's the holiday that feels like it comes when you desperately need it. I remember painting houses on the May Long Weekend before I got married. It was a gorgeous day and I was jamming to CBC radio while I tried to forget that I was in a bad job. Matt and I were at a wedding rehearsal for his birthday. Last year's May long we were getting ready to move from Vic.

This weekend was my beloved Moozh's thirtieth birthday. I can't believe I didn't even get on here to make a celebratory post about the fact that it was my babe's birthday! Friday was resplendent outside! It was sunny and warm. I actually got tan lines. We went out to one of our favourite sushi joint and then went for a walk along the seawall, just the two of us. I actually got tan lines! So did Moozh! And then we grabbed burgers at this wicked burger joint by our place with some great friends of ours. From there, we headed to the rooftop pub in time for the Canuck's game.

So many people came out and it was so fun. And Marcus and Meghan were their on their last day in Bankybear! At the end of the night, some of their friends (who are also from the 'Peg) were talking about the time of year their, and what Marcus and Megs can look forward to: worm season. It was hilarious some of the stories they were telling. Matt got a pack of cigarettes (a running joke) and a can of peaches among his presents. We haven't cracked the peaches open yet but apparently they were canned at the peak of season last year. Oh man, local peaches are spectacular here. I am so very excited for the summer season. And now Bankybear is taunting us with gorgeous days every now and then. At least, we're getting some.

With some of that seasonal fruit, I want to make some jam. I love Lemon Bird Jams. The flavours they combine are fascinating. I want to try and recreate their Peach and Lavender jam or Strawberry and Cinnamon. Pink Grapefruit with Basil! That sounds d-to-the-licious. I finally finished off the jugful of marmalade that I made, I think back in February. So now I'm off to the newest thing. And I have pectin that works. And beautiful local produce. And I've made enough mistakes with jam that I think I can troubleshoot and make it work.

I hope it is sunny where you are! My sissy in law had her bridal shower this past weekend. My sister has her lingerie shower and stagette this Saturday coming up. I finish up my class this Friday. I fly back to Calgary in less than three weeks! Woot!

When my loneliness is through...

Today is another instalment of Bankybear: Episode Cluster F***, courtesy of bizarre West Coast weather. This snow is snow that when you step on it either 1) turns into water instantaneously 2) turns into flubber (aka the slipperiest stuff on the planet). Last night, totally magical. Last night, when I was inside, in my jammers with dry feet, talking to our lovely  friends Heather and Gabe about their impending parasite to dress and love, totally magical. This morning when I slid halfway back to the beach and my socks were SOAKED by 830 in the morning, not magical. BANKYBEAR! NOT MAGICAL.

We're over it.

Could be worse. We could be in Snowpocalypse. Or in Australia. There is a gif of that clip in the dictionary next to 'chaos'...if dictionaries had gifs (How cool would that be?!). Scary things are happening all over the place because of weather. And I still have copious dry socks at home. We're entering the 'get-over-yourself' phase of this post. And it's also the first anniversary of the devastation in Haiti. A congresswoman was shot in the head at point-blank range in Tuscon and is ALIVE. And responsive!

So btw, BRI.

On a different note, I am finding it harder to 'get in the swing of things' this semester. I had my spurs on (that jingle-jangle-jingle) and I was ready to go last semester. This semester I'm spending a lot of time...here. We good, we cool. The only class I am even remotely concerned about is my cognitive systems class and yesterday in class (in response to the 'multiple emails they received from "anxious" students' - I think most of them were from me) my teacher said, "you will be confused these first two weeks with the concepts we introduce. That's how we structured the class". Okey dokey. As long as we're on the same page.

I have a bunch of cilantro and five prime avocados at my disposal. All I can think about lately is guacamole. And that I don't live in Mexico. And why don't I live in Mexico? And we should find a good Mexican restaurant in town. And do you think if I chopped the cilantro and froze it would keep longer? I ask all of these questions at 1130 pm and this makes my husband appreciate me ;)

Things that made me happy today:
I want this t-shirt
Next stop: spare tire. But I am makin' these.
This is the trailer of a really cool movie called, RIP: a Remix Manifesto and it explores the music industry and piracy. It looks at intellectual property and how the music industry is being radically changed.

Song for our Fathers

Sigh.

I was going to take pictures. I was going to go OUTSIDE.

Now, let me put a disclaimer on this. I am not a weenie. Correction: I am not a weenie when it comes to weather. Growing up in Cowtown, I bought my clothes with the proviso that I would be standing at bus stops, jumping through snow banks, peeling off layers when Chinooks hit, etc. But here...here is different. It's sleet and it's flying sideways (diagonal?). It doesn'
t matter if you have a hood. It doesn't matter if you have an umbrella. It doesn't matter if you have anything other than a balaclava and even then your mascara would still run. And then stick together and freeze like that. Oy vey.

So no pictures today. I handle the camera like a newborn and I have severe...clumsiness. A sunny day, or at the very least an overcast one, will saunter about and I will have some fun. So THERE, Bankybear! Until then, it'll be all interiors.

This is a picture from Simply Stardust, a blog I found off of Bloglovin'. (I really shouldn't do this. More blogs and more blogs. It is like memorizing trivia you will never have the opportunity to utilize. It's SO SAD. I do that also.) I think I realize that what I love so much
about food blogs are the photographs. So I don't love food blogs. I love photography blogs. Well good. Problem not solved.
I love when people capture something that is so everyday and invisible but capture it in a way that makes you want to seek those things out. It's a reminder to do that every day in everything.
